How do you curl your hair with straighteners?

So, we've all been there. Your makeup is done to perfection, you've picked out the perfect outfit for your night out on the town and you have a pair of killer heels ready and raring the go. The only problem? You want to curl your hair but you don't have any hair curlers. Well, in fact, if you have your straighteners at hand, you don't actually need curlers. Curling your hair using your trusty straighteners is quicker and easier than you might think.

Step one

Wash your hair with high-quality shampoo and conditioner and dry it with a hairdryer. Spray all your hair with a heat-protective spray to ensure that you do not damage it.

Step two

Take a comb and separate a small section of hair, then twist the entire length around your index finger. Pull the twisted hair off your finger, ensuring that it stays in the twist. Place the twist inside your straightening irons, taking care not to touch the hot plate of the straighteners and clamp down for five seconds before removing it.

Step three

Unfurl the twist of hair and you will have a bouncy, beautiful curl. Repeat with small sections all the way around your head. For a more defined look, keep the hair inside the straighteners for a little longer, and for looser waves, leave the hair inside the straighteners for less time. You can either curl both the under layer and the top layer of hair if you want more volume or just curl the top layer for a more demure look.

Step four

Once you have completed the curling to your satisfaction, run your fingers through the curls if you want a less defined curl, as this will loosen up the curls a little. Then, when you have your style exactly as you desire it, use a firm hold hairspray to keep the style in place. You will have the perfect head of stunning curls that will stay in place all day or night, garnering an array of compliments.
